Recovery is real. You don’t have to look any further than our own team here at Lightway Recovery to see what life looks like for women in recovery.

As one of our team members shared: “Recovery is a continual thing. I will never forget where I came from, but I try to keep moving forward and doing the next right thing. My life started changing, and the way I viewed my own life began to transform. I recognized that the world and outside influences dominated my life and spirit before recovery. Now I live independently without owing people or depending on them to support me. I cherish being a useful person in society and helping those around me see how awesome sobriety is.”

If you are looking for outside resources to encourage you in your recovery journey, here are some of our favorites:

Celebrate Recovery

Celebrate Recovery is a 12-step program with a Christ-centered focus that provides support for anyone struggling with addiction, hurt, or pain of any kind. Lightway Recovery was first dreamed of and prayed about in Celebrate Recovery support rooms, making it the birthplace of our vision for what would come to be our residential recovery center and other programs. We encourage anyone impacted by addition to find a CR meeting near you.

Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA)

Anywhere you go in the world, you can find a local meeting through AA or NA. Untold numbers of recovery journeys have begun or been sustained in AA and NA meeting rooms. Find a meeting you can attend today. You can even look for meetings that are for women only, are child-friendly, have babysitting available, and other preferences.

Faces and Voices of Recovery

Faces and Voices of Recovery is a national recovery advocacy organization. They mobilize people in recovery from alcohol and drug dependence and are a great source of inspiring, true recovery stories and a bounty of resources.

Navigate Recovery Gwinnett

Our sister nonprofit is Gwinnett County’s only recovery community organization dedicated to changing the way we treat addiction in Georgia and helping our neighbors navigate the recovery pathways that are available today. Even if Lightway Recovery is not a good fit for you, you may find many helpful resources and events at Safe Harbor, our addiction recovery resource center located in Lawrenceville. Plugging in to the Navigate Recovery community is a great way to be encouraged in your journey and help others along the way.

Christina shared, “Navigate Recovery has been the light in the darkness of my addiction. The help and support I’ve received from them have been nothing short of amazing and a true blessing! I’m overall impressed with the team of people they have serving us and our community. I’m forever grateful for the hope they’ve given me and for ultimately changing my life. Thank you Navigate Recovery Gwinnett!”

Shatterproof

Shatterproof is another national organization that works to transform addiction treatment and end the stigma associated with the medical condition. They share amazing stories that celebrate the joy of recovery, as well as moving tributes to those we’ve lost to addiction along the way.

Sober Grid

Technology is providing incredible advancements in mental health care and bringing communities of people together like never before. Sober Grid is the world’s largest recovery app that you can use to find other sober people and build your social support network. With apps like Sober Grid and other forms of peer support, you’ll quickly realize that you don’t have to walk this path alone.

There are many more websites and apps devoted to recovery topics.
